Welcome to SAAS

The Swedish Association for American Studies (SAAS) is an organization open to everyone in Sweden who is interested in the study of and teaching about the United States. It is the Swedish national chapter of the Nordic Association for American Studies (NAAS), which organizes Americanists in all the five Nordic countries.

Membership benefits

SAAS members also become members in the Nordic Association for American Studies (NAAS), and in the European Association for American Studies. Members receive two NAAS publications-the academic journal American Studies in Scandinavia and the NAAS Newsletter-as well as American Studies in Europe, the newsletter of the European Association for American Studies (EAAS). These publications ensure that you keep up to date with the latest developments in the American studies field nationally and internationally.

Conferences

SAAS organizes conferences on a regular basis, held at Swedish universities and university colleges. SAAS members can also participate in the NAAS conferences, which are held in August every other year in one of the Nordic countries, and in the biennial meetings of the European Association for American Studies. Members benefit from a discount when participating in the American Studies Association (ASA) conferences held in the United States.
