The 9th Biennial Conference of the Swedish Association for American Studies

The SAAS ninth biennial conference will take place at the University of Gothenburg, September 30-October 1, 2016. Eighth Biennial Conference of the Swedish Association for American Studies
at Örebro University, 26-27 September 2014

The SAAS eighth biennial conference took place at Örebro University, September 26-27 2014; the conference functions as an important forum for interdisciplinary exchange for American studies scholars and offered an exciting program which included 10 panels on a wide range of subjects and three plenary lectures. SAAS 2012 – The Seventh Biennial Conference of the Swedish Association for American Studies

SAAS holds its biennial conference in Uppsala September 20-22, 2012. The
program includes paper presentations and plenary lectures on topics ranging
from financial aspects of the 2012 elections to fictional representations of
American Muslims, from cinematic representations of white manhood to Latino
murals, and the presence of Paris in the work of William Carlos Williams, from
the community building of Swedish immigrants in Seattle in the 20th century to
reports about Sweden in the American press in the early 19th century.

SAAS Conference Schedule 2012

Invited guest lecturers are Winfried Fluck from the Kennedy Institute in Berlin and Monika Siebert from the University of Richmond, VA. Additional plenaries will be held by Professor Danuta Fjellestad, and Fulbright Professor Susan Hegeman.

The conference will take place at the English Park campus in Uppsala. The conference begins at 4 pm on Thursday 20 and ends at 4 pm on Saturday 22. A detailed program is available here on the website (see link above). Panels will take place in  the campus area called “Engelska Parken.” For a map of the area, follow this link.
